Full Tilt Poker was founded in 2004 by a consortium of successful poker pros. The site has had its ups and downs in the recent past but is now back as the second biggest poker site online only behind PokerStars, whose parent company The Rational Group, also owns Full Tilt Poker.

Software High on Usability

There are several ways to view the lobby, including using customizable widgets, 7 different table backgrounds, and dozens of player avatars that can be set to display 4 distinct emotions which allows for an impressive number of options and customizations.

There are also options for game animations, sound effects and alerts, buy-ins and game selection. All of these details can be confusing and distracting to beginners, but are very convenient for experienced online players.

Big Selection of Tight Games

Full Tilt Poker Usa

Because it plays host to one of the Internet’s biggest player pools, Full Tilt Poker is able to offer a huge selection of games and formats, most of which run very consistently. The one-tabling 2-7 Single Draw player will find plenty of action, and the 24-tabling Pot Limit Omaha pro will also be kept satisfied (and busy).

Selection

In addition, Full Tilt Poker offers Rush Poker, which zips players from table to table, minimizing the amount of downtime in between hands.

Full Tilt Poker also offers a varied schedule of multi-table tournaments and Sit & Gos. Nearly everyone can find at least a few regular tournaments suited to their skills and bankroll.

Unfortunately, Full Tilt Poker’s status as one of the most obvious and well-trafficked sites means the poker shark community has settled in at its tables. This is not to imply that it’s impossible to win consistently on the site (it definitely is), but prospective players will have to consider the trade-offs between Full Tilt Poker and a softer but smaller network.

Rake Structure

The rake structure for Full Tilt Poker cash games can be roughly summarized as 5% of each pot up to $3, effectively identical to the system used by most of its competitors. Ever since the collapse of rake-free sites like WSEX, rake at the major networks has stabilized to the point where it’s hardly ever a relevant factor in deciding where to play.

Bonuses and Benefits

New players are welcomed to the site with a deposit bonus of up to $600 which is released over time as the player earns Full Tilt Points. Those points, earned with every contribution to rake in both cash games and tournaments, can be spent in the Full Tilt Store on items from playing cards to flatscreen TVs. Watch for special happy hours where you can earn double or triple points.

The Iron Man program takes things a step further by introducing a separate currency, Iron Man medals, and a separate store catering to the sites most dedicated players. They can earn medals and one of the four Iron Man statuses (bronze, silver, gold, or iron) through consistent player over the course of every month.

The truly high rollers can also reap the benefit of the Black Card, which doubles their Full Tilt Point earn rate and provides access to a higher level of services and rewards.

Conclusion – Good Reliable Choice

With its wide selection of games and steady stream of traffic at all stakes, Full Tilt Poker is one of the most obvious choices, along with PokerStars, for a high volume player. Solid benefits in the form of the $600 sign-up bonus, up to 40% rakeback, Full Tilt Points, and the Iron Man program all work together to keep Full Tilt players raking in the money even when the cards themselves aren’t cooperating.

Full Tilt Poker overview 2020.

Full Tilt is comfortably in the very top tier of Texas Hold'em rooms and is only second to PokerStars in terms of traffic. In a nutshell, Full Tilt is an ideal choice for both regular and new players looking for an all-round quality poker room.

  • Second most popular online poker room.
  • Great software and plenty of soft competition.

As a regular Texas Hold'em player, Full Tilt ticks all the key boxes for; soft competition, good rakeback deal and sleek software that is perfect for multi-tabling.

The only poker room that edges out Full Tilt Poker in the traffic and software department is PokerStars.

Full Tilt competition and traffic.

Full Tilt Poker Play Money

  • Very high volume of traffic (#2 for traffic). Plenty of action at even the highest NL Hold'em tables.
  • High volume of player traffic means that there is plenty of soft competition across all stakes.
  • $200NL and $400 have a higher ratio of solid players due to rakeback. Table selection is key.

As mentioned, the only poker room that has more traffic than Full Tilt is PokerStars, but when a room reaches these levels of traffic the actual number of players makes very little difference, as all of the most popular NL Texas Hold'em stakes (and many of the higher stakes) are saturated with enough soft competition to keep them profitable.

The fact that Full Tilt offers rakeback means that the $200NL and $400NL play host to a larger than usual number of solid grinders, which means that table selection is an important consideration if you are a regular looking to win money.

However, you can safely assume that there is going to be at least one fish at any random table at the $100NL limits and lower. Just be sure to watch out for all the tricky rakeback players. If soft competition and easy money is what you're looking for though, Bodog is the better option.

Full Tilt software.

The Full Tilt client is a prime example of how a great poker room should look and feel. The thing with great designs is that you never really appreciate them unless you find a different design doing the same thing, just worse.

  • Awesome software. Perfect platform for winning money.
  • PokerTracker and HoldemManager compatible.
  • Table graphics a little cartoony. Not everyone's cup of tea, but not a big deal.

The Full Tilt software has always been fast loading, easy to navigate and I've never experienced glitches or freezing during play. The lobby is super responsive and makes it impressively easy to filter and sort the tables to find the perfect game. I really can't pick any faults with Tilt's software when it comes to usability (I did try).

The table graphics may be a little too cartoon-like for some, but then that's what gives Full Tilt its unique identity. I'd prefer a slightly more serious design myself, but at the end of the day it really doesn't take anything away from the gameplay, so I'm not going to complain.

Full Tilt Poker bonus.

100% up to $600 Bonus

The Full Tilt bonus is a higher than average (and easier to clear than average) 100% up to $600 match bonus. This bonus is available to all new players signing up to Full Tilt (even if you're a rakeback player).

Make sure you use the Full Tilt referral code RAKEBANK when signing up to get the rakeback to go along with the bonus.

Overall it is a very attractive bonus. It is one of few bonuses that is worth saving for until the time you are able make a sizeable deposit so that you can get the most from it.
